Those who enjoying rolling their eyes at Nintendo and their tendency for making things needlessly complicated have yet another reason to do so: Kotaku reveals that save files from Virtual Console games for the Wii will not work when the Wii U gets its own Virtual Console this spring.
So, not only will you have to pay a fee to have games transferred from the Wii to the Wii U, any progress made in those classic titles will be lost in the ether as well.
Also, not every game will be able to transfer initially, only NES and Super NES titles. Nintendo promises future consoles will be supported, but at least early on, only a portion of one's Wii Virtual Console library will be able to make the jump if you happen to also have Nintendo 64, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Game Gear, TurboGrafx, or Neo Geo games.
While some are simply taking this latest news in stride, others are understandably frustrated. Many are even beginning to wonder about the benefits of transferring Wii VC titles in the first place. Sure being able to play games on the GamePad is neat, as are all the customizable controller options. But is it worth all the headaches that come with it?
