Capcom has released a trailer of its highly anticipated “Siege Mode” for Resident Evil 6. The multiplayer game mode was announced as a part of the first DLC for the game last month, but remained absent from the content the studio released on December 18 due to delays in its production.
Designed for two groups of players to go head to head against each other, “Siege Mode” places one group of players in the roles of humans who must defend NPCs from another group of players, who take on the roles of zombies whose goal is to chow down on those NPCs. In this mode, the zombie team must race against the clock. If the timer reaches zero while the NPCs are still alive, then the human team wins.
The official description reads as follows: “Siege sees a lone AI-controlled rookie BSAA agent in trouble and in need of help. Players will split into two teams with one assuming control of enemy creatures who are trying to take down the rookie, while the other team selects playable characters from the main game and must keep him alive. Each game consists of two rounds with teams switching between the human and enemy roles. The human team wins a round if the BSAA agent survives, while the enemies win if they can defeat him.”
“Siege Mode” will be available as a standalone DLC this coming March on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, where it will be priced at $3.99 or 320 MS Points. Not too bad for a mode that essentially gives the game a much needed lease on life.
