Goichi Suda, AKA Suda51, is a rare developer. While he is a Japanese game developer, his games often include Western themes and therefore often make it over here. His games are often quirky and different which ensure that large commercial success is rare, but usually become cult hits amongst gamers anyway.
Though his most recent notable games, Shadows of the Damned and Lollipop Chainsaw released in 2011 and 2012 respectively, his studio already has a trailer ready for us of his next game, Killer is Dead. Details on the game are still forthcoming, but we can get a pretty good idea of the kind of game it is by watching the trailer.
The game appears to be in a realistic cell shaded style, lending itself well to highly stylized fights as a man in a suit fights with a katana across an urban cityscape at night. Cyborgs and mutants seem to be the main enemies as main character Mondo Zappa says that more will be revealed in the future, but that this is a story of "Love and Execution".
I think it's fair to expect a different take on a hitman-type story, with probable gratuitous love interests and plenty of futuristic tech, cities and enemies for the taking. Killer is Dead will be released this summer 2013. Check out the trailer above.
