Sega Announces Partnership with Social Game Developer Gogogic

January 18, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

The partnership’s first game is Godsrule: War of Mortals

Yesterday, Sega announced a partnership with Gogogic, an independent games studio based in Iceland that is known for casual and social games like Tiny Places and Vikings of Thule. Sega wants to break into the free-to-play and cross-platform areas of the gaming world with a game the two companies are developing called Godsrule: War of Mortals.

Here's Sega on the partnership:

We choose our partners carefully and Gogogic has a demonstrated ability in creating top-flight games that resonate with their players,” said Chris Olson, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA of America. “We look forward to building new worlds with them.

The game is a cross-platform fantasy MMOF that combines “social gameplay” with RTS elements, giving players the job of managing an empire: collecting resources, expanding their land, leading their armies into battle to take over contested territories. Players will be able to access the persistent world from their browser or on their iPad, which will let them do things like team up with friends for battles with up to four players and manage their empire on the go.

Godsrule: War of Mortals is currently in closed beta, but those who want to sign up can do so on the website.
