The Tomb Raider franchise has been around for decades. It started off as a video game and grew into other media mediums such as comic books and even blockbuster feature films starring actress Angelia Jolie. Now that some years have passed since the franchise’s first cinema debut, we’re starting to see the first media marketing images and teasers for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot film.
This upcoming Tomb Raider film isn’t anything new, we’ve known about the film production for some time now. The film was directed by Roar Uthaug, known for The Wave and Escape while starring Alicia Vikander who appeared in Ex Machina and Jason Bourne.
Apparently, the film will tell an origin story for Lara Croft and it appears to have the same feel and tone that was presented in the 2013 Tomb Raider video game reboot by developers Crystal Dynamics. It’s worth mentioning that the reboot video game became a massive success, showing a more vulnerable Lara Croft as she began to learn her skills that made her into an iconic heroine that we’ve known her to be in the past video game installments.
However, with all that said, there’s no telling just how well the film adaptation will be received. Normally, video game film adaptations are usually met with poor reception at the box office, though we’ll simply have to wait and see just how the marketing is handled for Tomb Raider along with its initial week in the cinema.
Currently, the Tomb Raider film only has a small teaser available online which the main trailer the teaser was taken from will be posted tomorrow, September 19, 2017. In the meantime, take a look at the teaser for Tomb Raider which shows Lara Croft going through a jungle, preparing to use her trusty bow, and of course, raiding a tomb.
