When Deadpool was announced at the San Diego Comic Con last year, it was met with a chorus of cheers from comic book fans, for finally giving the red-suited character a game of his own. Deadpool was previously relegated to the role of supporting character in Marvel action games, like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and as a playable fighter in Marvel vs Capcom.
Deadpool’s announcement was precipitated by the vandalizing of The Amazing Spider-Man movie posters, with Deadpool’s iconic image appearing to be spraypainted over the artwork—suggestive of the childish nature of the character.
With a game to call his own, Deadpool will be able to go off on his own story and kick some ass, Deadpool style. He’s voiced by Nolan North, who has played Deadpool in previous games. North is best known for his role as Nathan Drake.
Today, five new screenshots of the game were released. You can check them out above and below.
Developed by High Moon Studios, the makers of the Transformers games for Activision, the Deadpool game is set for release on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year. For now, there are no plans to release the game on the PC.
