We might not be getting Titanfall 2, but FPS fans can rejoice in the knowledge that Bethesda will be bringing both DOOM and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus to the Nintendo Switch.
The exciting announcement was made during Nintendo Direct, Nintendo’s series of presentations designed to offer players a more in-depth look at upcoming Nintendo titles.
At around 26 minutes in, it is revealed that Bethesda Softworks plans to add critically-acclaimed FPS DOOM to the Nintendo Switch games line-up. In terms of technical performance, it’s well known that Nintendo Switch doesn’t measure up to the graphical processing power of PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, so the addition of a visually demanding, frame-rate guzzling game like DOOM is a welcome addition. Similarly, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be delivering players a historical slice of gory, weapon-heavy Nazi resistance that was formerly available only on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
Release frame:
- DOOM will drop this winter while Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is expected to release sometime in 2018.
Earlier this year, Bethesda said that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim would indeed be coming to Nintendo Switch. But expanding the list to include DOOM and The New Colossus certainly begs the question: will we be seeing the likes of Fallout 4, Prey and the Dishonored series?
