PlanetSide 2 has been updated to include a number of enhancements, ranging from how players earn experience points, to improvements to the kill reward system.
The game has been available as a free-to-play title for a few months now. For those who prefer not to grind through the game with minimal equipment, players can also opt in to purchase points for the game in order to unlock additional weapons and abilities.
According to SOE creative director Matt Higby, the new patch will make it so that killing other players will reward more XP, and that newly spawned players "will be worth a fraction of the current reward," to make it less incentivizing for players to spawncamp their opponents and go after those on the field instead.
Details of the patch were posted over on Planetside Universe.
Likewise, a partial amount of experience will be rewarded for damaging vehicles even if they aren't completely destroyed, to give players an incentive to shoot at them more often instead of letting them lay waste on the battlefield.
Planetside 2's in-game store will also see the addition of server transfer tokens so players can switch servers to where their friends are, should they decide to migrate. Additionally, each empire will receive a new SMG, and players will be able to customize the colors on the minimap. This should come in handy for anyone suffering from colorblindness.
Finally, some changes are also coming to the UI to emphasize score per minute so players can more easily compare their stats.
