More than three months since its launch, FIFA 13 – the most accessible mainstream game of 2012 – is back in first position on the UK game sales charts. FIFA 13 has never dropped lower than fourth bestselling title in any week since its release date way back in September, and has been in first for five of those fifteen weeks. While the game has occasionally been overshadowed by big hitters like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, another that has sat comfortably at the top of the charts since its release, this just goes to show the ongoing draw FIFA titles continue to have.
So why is FIFA 13 back at the top in this first week of the new year? It probably has little to do with New Year's Resolutions to play more virtual football and a lot more to do with the generally quiet state of video game sales as we kick off 2013. The top ten doesn't even include any new titles, and number ten itself goes to a relatively old one: Skyrim. The rest of the chart is much as you'd expect, with Far Cry 3 pushed down from last week's first place to second, followed by Black Ops II, Hitman Absolution, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Halo 4, Just Dance 4, Forza Horizon, and LEGO The Lord of the Rings.
