Naughty Dog's The Last of Us' release is but a few months away and it seems some people are getting excited more than others. One of these people is YouTube user legoC97. In the video below, legoC97 remakes The Last of Us' announcement trailer using LEGOs. It's a frame-by-frame recreation and one I have no doubt took a lot of time and effort on his/her end.
What's even more impressive here is not just how the game's sound effects are synced perfectly with the fan-made trailer, it's how he animated it. If I'm not mistaken, legoC97 used the stop-motion technique which was famous back then for animating clay figures and whatnot. If I'm correct, then he posed and took a shot of each character at each frame of their movement; which means this two-minute clip must have taken him more than an hour or so to make.
It's not for naught, though, as now we can appreciate all the hardwork that's put into it. While I doubt there's going to be a LEGO The Last of Us version coming out anytime soon, at least we now know it could possibly work. Hey, if it worked for Batman, the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, why not for Joel and Ellie?!
Have you seen anything as dedicated as this when it comes to a game's trailer? If so, share it in the comments below and let's have a look.
The Last of Us is set for a May 7 release for the PS3.
