The Surge Will Make Use Of Xbox One X Enhancements; No Switch Port Planned

August 24, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

The update will likely drop when the console launches.

Deck 13’s Dark Souls-esque hardcore RPG, The Surge has been confirmed to be receiving Xbox One X enhancements when Microsoft’s console releases in November.

Game design head Adam Hetenyi spoke to DualShockers regarding the update, stating that it is planned to release 2017 end and will launch the same time DLC “A Walk in the Park” does – that means that when the Xbox One X launches you can likely expect it to launch with The Surge making full use of the Xbox One X’s capabilities.

Hetenyi also spoke to DualShockers regarding a Switch port, unfortunately, there are no plans for this and it seems Hetenyi isn’t too keen on it as it would require a graphical downgrade.

If you are interested in trying your hand at The Surge, a free demo did recently launch, for more details, check out our article, here.

‘Focus Home Interactive announced there would be a demo for The Surge last week, but the details were relatively scarce. Today, the publisher unveiled a release trailer packed with gameplay highlights from various streamers and YouTubers, really emphasising the more nail-biting moments.’

The Surge is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. What have you thought of the title so far? Digging it? Let us know in the comments below.
