So, are you Black Ops 2 players tired of the game's maps by now? If so, the game's first new map pack is just a month away and will even include weapon as a DLC for the first time in franchise history.
In a leaked promotional poster, it reveals that the upcoming map pack will be called "Revolution," will include four multiplayer maps, a zombie map and a submachine gun (SMG) as a downloadable weapon.
The name of the four maps, the zombie map and the weapon are listed below.
Multiplayer Maps:
- Hydro
- Downhill
- Mirage
- Grind
Zombie Map:
- Die Rise
Weapon:
- Peacekeeper SMG
Based on the promo poster, it seems Downhill will be the first snow-based map for Black Ops 2. If there's one thing I missed in Black Ops 1 in the sequel, it's snow maps.
While Activision or Treyarch has yet to deny or confirm any of these, it does look legit. If so, expect it to hit the Xbox 360 on January 29, 2013 (based on the promo poster date), with the other versions getting their DLCs a month later as per the norm when it comes to Call of Duty content.
Currently, there's no price connected to Revolution, but if the past is any indication, it will run you about 1200 Microsoft Points or $15 in real-world money; which should be expected by Call of Duty fans now. Of course, if you're a Season Pass member, Revolution will be the first content drop your $50 gets you.
Seeing as we have no clue what the maps will be, the big news here is the Peacekeeper SMG. This is the first time in Call of Duty history that a weapon will be part of a DLC. So, what will happen once a non-DLC buyer picks the weapon up? Will they be able to use it? If I had to wager a guess, they should be able to pick the weapon up and use it, but not have it accessible on their loadout or challenges. If I'm not mistaken, that's how Battlefield 3 does it with their weapon DLCs, right?
So, now that you know what the first map pack for Black Ops 2 will be, are you excited to get it on January 29 or will you be playing other games by then? What do you think of Treyarch adding a new weapon as part of their DLC? Is this a good move or will it just mess with the game's balance?
