Howard Phillips was one of Nintendo of America's most prominent personalities during the company's early days. Initially just a producer, he rose to fame as a spokesman, via the "Game Master" moniker that was created for him. Phillips was also one of the key driving forces behind Nintendo Power magazine, serving as its first editor.
Plus, he as one half the Howard & Nester comic series (though in reality, the smart-alecky kid was also based on Phillips as well). And one such comic can now be acquired via eBay this very moment. Though it's a very special one, a strip that even the most diehard of Nintendo Power fans have yet to read. And that's because it was never unpublished.
The reason is because it was specially created for Phillips as a farewell gift in 1991. And because of this, the comic contains foul language, which obviously would not have been gone over well in the magazine. It, along with various other Nintendo Power collectable, have been up for auction on eBay.
Included in the package is the very first Howard and Nester comic, the original, Howard and Nester Tetris blocks that were used in a photo shoot, again the originals, along with the first 50 issues of the magazine, plus various guidebooks that Phillips also edited. At the moment, the bidding is up to $2,550. The reserve has not been met yet.
