You know, before I started playing Far Cry 3, I thought everyone was just being a big baby about the HUD. "So many shooters have HUDs, what could be the big deal?" I wondered. But then I played it. Oh, did I play it. I'm well over 50 hours in (having spent way too much time doing research for my Exploration, Hunting, and Crafting guide) and guys, I'm now firmly on Team "That HUD Sucks". It is exceedingly difficult to get properly immersed in an open world game when you're constantly being reminded of your main quest objective. I now understand the pain.
And so it brings me great joy to announce that Ubisoft has released Far Cry 3 patch 1.04 for PC, which will allow players to hide the HUD via the Options menu. The fix will also adjust a number of mission and weapon related bugs, add support for future DLC, repair some custom control issues, and add more multiplayer map information. To download, visit the official site. According to the Far Cry 3 Twitter feed, the patch will be coming to console "sometime soon".
