If you weren’t involved in team sport, chances are you spent many lazy Saturday mornings enjoying the finest brew of cartoons a kid could hope for. It isn’t Saturday yet, but Powerhouse Animation has teamed up with Airship Syndicate and THQ Nordic for a a beautifully polished 2D animated trailer for its upcoming RPG, Battle Chasers: Nightwar. In case the style looks familiar, Powerhouse Animation is the same team behind the Castlevania Netflix series which released last month.
The trailer is packaged into the game as an an introductory sequence, and really harkens back to the days of Thundercats and Silverhawks. In it we see the debut of Alumon the Devil Hunter, who operates as a bounty hunter after being banished from the sacred order of Monster Hunters. He wears a mask to disguise his ivory hair and serpentine eyes, a direct result of delving a bit too deeply into the dark arts.
Originally kickstarted in 2015, Battle Chasers: Nightwar takes you on an isometric adventure of turn-based combat, dungeon crawling goodness, and deeply satisfying item crafting.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is out this October for PC, Mac, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. You can pre-order it through Steam for $26.99 USD.
