Earlier today, we reported on the next upcoming expansion for Borderlands 2, Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt. The game’s developer, Gearbox, has confirmed that the DLC isn’t the only thing they have in store for release next year.
Speaking candidly on Twitter, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford made a series of tweets about the studio’s big plans for Borderlands 2, which include expanding the game well beyond its current state with ‘deeper progression’.
Pitchford began his tweets by saying that a good chunk of players, specifically: 16.75% of Xbox gamers on Borderlands 2, have at least one character that has achieved level 50, the game’s current max level. To that end, the studio intends to release an expansion that raises the cap.
“We are working on a big add-on/expansion for next year with deeper progression,” said Pitchford, whose statement is in line with earlier disclosed details that Gearbox intends to release a third difficulty level for veteran players. “I will share details and timing as we settle in with them,” he said.
“In the mean-time, Sir Hammerlock has a grand adventure in store for us all in the deepest wilds of Pandora. Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt is really badass. Will be best BL2 DLC yet.”
Pitchford ended his announcement by giving out a series of SHiFT codes for use on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. You can find them on his Twitter account, where he gives them out with some regularity.
Borderlands 2 is currently available for the three aforementioned platforms, with two available campaign-expanding DLCs.
