Update: The game's developers have since been accused of fraud.
Survival horror shooter The War Z is now out on Steam. Its developer, Hammerpoint Interactive, has announced that the intial launch is being called a "Foundation Release."
On The War Z's official Steam page, there are three different packages to choose from. People can opt to buy just the game itself fpr $13.49, buy the game along with 2,100 Gold Credits (used for leveling up) for $22.49 or pay $44.99 for the game that will also come with 7,500 Gold Credits.
Hammerpoint executive producer Sergey Titov states that The War Z holds more than 600,000 registered accounts and a daily player count of 150,000. While the studio didn't detail what a "Foundation Release" actually is, they did state that more features and content are in the pipeline for the open world zombie title.
Lastly, in a forum post, Titov confirmed that prevous buyers can re-download The War Z through Steam via entering their account info on a conversion page (it's not up yet as of press time) for a Steam key. For those converting their accounts, they'll gain access to Steam Achievements and also the ability to use their Steam Wallets to buy in-game store credit.
Anyone up for more zombie-hunting or is this sub-genre getting old?
