As noted earlier this weekend, Dark Souls 2 is on the way. And we know already that it aims to be a tad bit different than its predecessor, while at the same time, making sure that the roots have not been forsaken.
Though Tomohiro Shibuya, the new director, when discussing the upcoming sequel with Edge, says a few things that might ruffle the feathers of diehard fans of the franchise. That being how it will be friendlier to new players, something less ambiguous.
According to Shibuya, the new game will be "more straightforward and more understandable" than the previous installment. Which is fine and all, but given how a large part of the original Dark Soul's appeal (and the same goes with its predecessor, Demon's Soul) is the brutal difficulty level, as well as how everything is so obtuse, many fans are now understandably worried.
It's also worth noting how Hidateki Miyazaki, the game's creator himself once advocated the notion of an Easy Mode, so this might simply be something that's been in the cards for a long time that's finally being realized and not just the handiwork on the new director.
