Dark Souls 2: We Hate Our Audience Edition was just announced at the latest Spike Video Game Awards, which ended some 30 minutes ago. It's the third and latest game by From Software that's expected to be every bit as unforgiving and challenging as its predecessors, Demons Souls and Dark Souls.
Nothing at all was shown of the new game or its gameplay, as it was only presented in the form of a fully CGI trailer that depicted a fully armored warrior getting shot with numerous arrows and striking down a white-masked foe who resembled Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th movies.
"You are the undead," states the trailer's narrator. "Forever without hope, forever without light."
The CGI trailer was top quality, and ends with the same warrior—in a separate scene—getting burned to a crisp by a dragon, which is presumably something that's going to happen to a lot of players once the game comes out next year.
It is unknown whether the game is slated for current generation consoles or whether they plan to release it for the next gen PS4 or the X720, which is what we're tentatively calling Sony and Microsoft's next generation consoles. There's a good chance that it'll also be out for the PC. Well, hopefully.
Update: It's for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The official website confirms it.
