Over the years, many Japanese games that seemed destined to languish in its homeland have managed to find a way to America after all. And the latest might be The Idolmaster from Namco Bandai.
For those unfamiliar, you assume the role of a record producer who must manage the careers of prospective pop idols. The game originated in the arcade, but eventually became an early homegrown offering for the Xbox 360 in Japan.
According to Destructoid, the western branch of the aforementioned publisher has just registered "The Idolmaster" for trademark on this side of the ocean, along with "Shiny Festa", which is the name of the latest installment (there have been countless releases back east, since it's a bona fide cash cow at this point).
Though it is also pointed out how Shiny Festa is straightforward rhythm game, and not nearly as complex as most offerings, which are usually heavy on the simulation aspects. Normally, as manager, not only do you pick the songs, but also how all the ladies dress and so forth.
Still, for those in the US who have long wished to play a localized version of such a exotic curiosity, that day might finally be here soon.
