We live in the era of unboxing, and now Sony’s jumped on the bandwagon by unveiling their beautiful gold and silver PlayStation 4 models. The limited edition consoles were announced earlier this month, and will be accompanied by not one but two matching DualShock 4 controllers. Couch co-op is officially sorted.

Joining the existing lineup of Jet Black and Glacier White consoles, the Gold and Silver variations add a metallic sheen effect that carries just a touch of luxury. Of course, not all fans feel the same way. Some are questioning the significance of a colour change, while others wondering why the PS4 Pro isn’t getting the same treatment. At the very least, it seems to be a decision motivated more by aesthetics than design or storage capacity. Unlike the Black and White editions which offer the choice to upgrade to 1TB HDD, The Gold and Silver PlayStation 4 consoles only offer 500GB HDD.
