Could Heavy Rain developers Quantic Dream have Beyond: Two Souls' release date outed before the official announcement?
That seems to be the case, as an IGN reader known as John saw its release date on Beyond: Two Souls' official page before it got promptly got yanked.
According to the screen grab, Beyond: Two Souls is set for release on May 25, 2013 for the PS3. Here's the original date on the page before it got changed.
Before you go to your nearest retailer and place money on your pre-order, Sony has given its official comment on the matter and they specifically state that the release date is an "error" and that its director, David Cage, is preparing for the game's alpha version still.
We have not announced a release date for Beyond: Two Souls outside of the 2013 time frame…In fact, David Cage recently shared that the title is preparing for the alpha version so the date reported on the product site is incorrect and has since been updated.
It's also worth pointing out that May 25, 2013 is a Saturday; and since most games are released on a Tuesday, well, odds are, the date really is just an error.
But don't be surprised if the game manages to be released in the first-quarter of 2013, too, since the game already has a ton of gameplay footage available that seems to indicate that Quantic Dream is a bit farther out than they're letting on.
Would you want Beyond: Two Souls to be released in the first half of 2013 or in the Fall? Regardless of when it releases, it's yet another game to look forward to in 2013's burgeoning games release list.
