A recent update to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has caused problems with the leaderboards, deleting scores for some players but not others and causing a lot of anger for those affected. On the game's forums, players have been sharing and lamenting the loss of their scores and kill/death ratios, with some taking their fury a little further and calling Treyarch “the most worthless company in the history of human existence” or saying they're going to get a refund.
Most, however, just seem hopeful that the issue will be fixed soon, and Treyarch has been quick to respond. On Twitter, the studio said:
Since this morning's backend update, we've been made aware of leaderboard issues that some are having — we're looking into it, stand by.
Soon after that, Treyarch disabled the leaderboards so as to work on the issue:
Currently working through server side issues re leaderboards…they'll be re-enabled as soon as we've fixed the issue…stand by.
Treyarch hasn't clarified whether the fix the team is working on will reinstate leaderboard positions for all players or simply prevent the problem from affecting other players in future, but it'll hopefully be the former. Have you been affected by this issue? Does it make you want to return the game, or will you hold out for the fix?
