In a rather strange but logical move, Codemasters will be enlisting the help of gaming website Xbox360Achievements and its sister site PS3 Trophies to design and create the Achievements and Trophy list for GRID 2.
According to the site's Editor-in-Chief Dan Webb, "Xbox 360 Achievements and PS3 Trophies will work hand-in-hand with the designers at Codemasters’ world class racing studio, to create an Achievement and Trophy list that will perfectly compliment the game and play to its strengths."
The site will be documenting the process from start to finish, and players will be able to track what goes into creating Achievements and Trophies for games with a series of features, video blogs and more.
Here's what Webb had to say regarding the deal:
If anyone knows the achievement and trophy crowd, it’s us…For years we’ve been criticising lacklustre Achievement & Trophy lists, and now, we finally get the chance to put our money where our mouth is. Codemasters have put their faith in us to work with them on creating the ultimate list, and we’re looking forward to repaying that trust to design Achievements and Trophies with unique objectives that will put a smile on players’ faces with each and every unlock.
Of course, Codemasters themselves have a thing or two to share on the matter, too. Clive Moody, executive producer at Codemasters Racing Studio states, "Their extensive knowledge coupled with our studio talent will make for a uniquely crafted list with insight from the experts, offering gamers real challenge and reasons to chase every possible reward. It’s a new approach, but we think it will be a lot of fun and a great way to give player’s an insight into this increasingly important element of game design."
This is the first time in history that something like this is happening and it might not be the last. The only concern here is when it's time to review the game itself. Hopefully, the site has an answer to that already. I gather not publishing a review at all would be the safest bet, no?
Congrats to everyone involved and let's see a good Achievements/Trophy list, alright?
GRID 2 is scheduled for a summer 2013 release for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
