In news that may disappoint some fans, Rare’s upcoming pirate-themed action adventure MMO Sea of Thieves has been delayed until early next year. The announcement came alongside an extensive 4K gameplay walkthrough reveal, and it isn’t the first time the game’s release schedule has been pushed back. Sea of Thieves has a bit of a tumultuous history with erroneous release dates and an initial release frame of 2017.
Rare didn’t go into detail as to why Sea of Thieves was being delayed, but it’s more than likely that the game still needs a few tweaks to make sure the “shared world pirate extravaganza” feels just right. To that end, Rare are inviting players to get involved in the Sea of Thieves Insider Programme and provide feedback on the game’s continuing development. Note: Participation requires an Xbox Live account.
Sea of Thieves has an expected release date of Q1 2018. It will be available for Xbox One and Windows 10 as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
