Electronic Arts (EA), has just announced that they're opening a new games studio over in Gothenburg, Sweden. This new studio, which is called "Ghost," will be spearheaded by former DICE veteran, Marcus Nilsson. DICE is, of course, an EA owned studio and is responsible for the Battlefield franchise.
Here's what the "About" page of the studio website says:
GHOST IS A NEW EA GAMES STUDIO
PASSION, TALENT & CONVICTION
EA Gothenburg is a new EA Studio located on the west coast of Sweden. Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest city with a population of about 1 million people. This charming location was chosen because of the plethora of highly talented game developers that can be found in that part of Sweden and its southern regions.
The studio is now hiring, too. So if you're in Sweden, you might want to give their "Jobs" page a look to see if you can join the team. Currently, the studio has 16 vacancies, and they're looking for an Art Director, Development Director, Audio Designer and a "Vehicle Artist." Does this mean that whatever game they're cooking up will be a racing game or just a game that has vehicles heavily-infused into the gameplay?
If I can speculate, seeing as the new studio is being headed by someone over at DICE, could this new studio be making another FPS franchise or possibly be in charge of one of EA's shooter franchises? Given that Medal of Honor Warfighter seems to have been a bust, could Ghost be taking over development duties? If not that, maybe this new studio can develop the Bad Company franchise and have it alternate between the main Battlefield brand? Hey, I did say I was speculating, no?
What would you want this new Ghost studio to be working on? Sound off and guess away.
Thanks, NeoGAF
