A few weeks ago, the games industry media reported that Foxconn admitted that Foxconn employed works between the ages of 14 and 16, which violated Chinese labor law. The manufacturing firm was also known for having harsh working conditions, but produces most of the actual hardware for our technology.
Despite Nintendo claiming they would "look into" Foxconn's child labor admission, the firm doesn't appear to be slowly down at all. There are rumors that the Chinese manufacturer is evaluating Detroit and LA for new operations.
According to DigiTimes, the American facilities would be expected to handle LCD TV manufacturing, which is said to be a simpler and more automated process. Foxconn is also reportedly in talks with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for a program that would "see American engineers brought to Taiwan or China to broaden their understanding of product design and manufacturing".
With the U.S.' much stricter laws, it is unlikely Foxconn would try anything of the sort here, but one must wonder if they were reprimanded at all for their actions by Nintendo as they seem to only show signs of expanding.
