After introducing us two-by-two to characters Luke and Leia, R2-D2 and C-3PO, Darth Vader and Obi Wan, and Han Solo and Chewbacca, Rovio has released an all-round, official gameplay trailer that shows a fair few of them in action. The trailer gives the best demonstration so far of what the game will actually feel like to play, and particularly what the Star Wars brand will bring to the already popular formula.
It looks like each character has a unique ability to give them a boost when crashing through the constructions on which the pigs – members of the Empire – are perched. Luke naturally has a lightsaber, which can be used to swipe at the walls of those forts or deflect blaster shots. Han Solo has his own blaster, which looks like it can be aimed in a particular direction, the shots ricocheting off obstacles. For Chewie just looks like his added bulk gives him a hand.
It's hard to tell if the added features will impact the initial simplicity of the game enough to put people off, but even it if does the inclusion of Star Wars characters in bird form should be enough to make up the numbers. Angry Birds Star Wars will launch on November 8th, and will be available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, and Windows 8.
