Konami has posted its earnings report for the first half of fiscal 2013; and while Pro Evolution Soccer '13 did well, that wasn't enough for the publisher's revenu to drop 13 percent year-over-year.
Konami raked in $1.3 billion (106.7 billion yen) for the first six months ended September 30. This is a dip of 13 percent from the same time period last year. The publisher's net income also took a hit, dropping more than 39 percent to $87.4 million (7 billion yen). This downturn can be attributed more to Konami's pachinko division slipping, with its sales down 80.2 percent for the year, while the videogame division also saw a drop with sales down 9.3 percent.
In the last few days of its first half fiscal year, Konami launched Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 in the U.S. and Europe. According to the publisher, the game "performed strongly"along with its entire soccer catalog. While there soccer games managed to move 2.93 million units, there other sports titles weren't as fortunate, with its baseball games sales falling sharply from 970,000 to just 390,000.
Can Platinum Games' Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance help shore up Konami's next financial report? We'll know for sure once their next financial report comes in.
