Randy Pitchford Praises Wii U Gamepad, “The Best Controller Nintendo’s Ever Made”

Gearbox Software President Randy Pitchford is a happy man. Why? Because the Wii U controller is apparently a perfect fit for Aliens: Colonial Marines and other hardcore games.

Speaking with Joystiq he praised the controller, and how the tablet's screen handles things like an in-game map and motion tracker.

"This is the best controller Nintendo's ever made for making an FPS," he said. "This is the best controller Nintendo has ever given us for playing hardcore games."

Pitchford is also impressed with how Nintendo has handled the touch-screen functionality.

"With the Wii U they [Nintendo] committed themselves to this promise. So the link is direct, fast and immediate., Things like SmartGlass and Vita, they appreciate the value of the promise so they're making the promise. But they're not in with such commitment," he added.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is expected sometime in 2013.
