Square Enix has opened up a teaser site confirming that Dragon Quest VII will be heading to the 3DS. Gematsu reports that the information in the teaser image includes a Japanese release date of February 7th 2013, and a 6,090 yen price. Without a Japanese translator (watch this space – or let me know in the comments if you can help out) I can't tell you what the bullet points say word for word, but we do know that the game will be developed by ArtePiazza.
Dragon Quest VII Eden no Senshitachi (or Dragon Warrior VII in North America) was originally released for the PlayStation in 2000, and has sold more than 4 million copies. The huge game involves exploration of several islands surrounding the protagonist's (and his friends') home of Estard. The 3DS version will follow the same story, but will add new features to make use of the capabilities of the console, like StreetPass functionality.
Gematsu also reports that the game will apparently be easier to play than the original, which will no doubt cause a little debate among longtime fans. Do you think remakes should stick as closely to the original as possible? Or will you welcome the new generation of Dragon Quest VII fans this easier version could encourage?
