Just about everyone's heard about Hurricane Sandy hitting the northeastern U.S. coast this week. It's a slow storm, but an extremely large one, so everyone's taking the necessary precautions (as a Floridian, I'm just surprised it's not hitting us).
GameStop is taking those precautions right alongside everyone else, those being that stores in the path of the hurricane will be closed until it is "safe to re-open". Unfortunately that means that the midnight launch events that GameStop was going to host for Assassin's Creed III (which releases tomorrow) is cancelled in the northeast U.S.
GameStop advises customers to contact their local stores to find out if they're closing and when they may reopen. It looks like some fans will have to wait a little longer for their copy, but we're hoping that's the most of their worries.
Best Buy has also planned similar events for Assassin's Creed III, but we don't yet know if they're canceling their events. My guess would be not to count on it happening. If you're on the northeast coast, stay safe and stay away from spoilers in the meantime!
