Today the original Witcher game turned 5, marking a milestone for the series as a whole. CD Projekt RED is inviting a few prominent Polish fans from their forums to visit the studio and party with them at their headquarters.
“We’ve always taken our community’s opinions seriously and we want to meet fans, who have been with us almost from the start of our work on The Witcher series," the developer's blog stated. "This is one of the ways we want to say “thank you guys for all your support!”.
The series gained a lot of popularity back when the critically acclaimed The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was released last year. But the first game had always been well received and popular with RPG fans.
“Back when we had originally started working on our first game, we never imagined that The Witcher would gain so many die-hard fans," said CD Projekt RED. "The fact that we love what we do kept us going through the greatest obstacles, but we wouldn’t have made it without you guys – the players. I guess I just want to say thank you to each and every one of you who supported us throughout those years. Thank you!”
The developer has also garnered a lot of respect, and it’s evident as they were chosen to create a Cyberpunk 2020 based game that many are excited for.
“Today is the 5 year anniversary of The Witcher series and let me tell you, it’s been an amazing journey. Each year, month, day and hour of the past 5 years has been truly extraordinary and I’m 100% certain that none of The Witcher team members would trade even one of those days away. It has also been a time of hard work and sacrifice but also a time of great satisfaction and massive achievements.”
