Publisher Square Enix has announced that NieR: Automata has breached the one million mark in sales. This data includes both physical and digital sales on PS4 and PC.
These figures are certainly an improvement when compared to the original Nier. However, sales figures are not definite for this game. It reportedly sold around 134,000 copies in Japan in its first seven months, whereas NieR: Automata managed an impressive 198,542 on PS4 alone during its launch week in Japan.
NieR: Automata is available on both PS4 and PC, although Square Enix did not provide a sales breakdown by platform. The publisher revealed that it reached this milestone a little less than a month after the game’s March 7th launch.
The Windows release is still among the Top 10 Best Sellers on Sream, and it was regularly in that top spot throughout the first couple weeks after its debut. This was due in part to its nearly simultaneous release across regions.
Square Enix did its part to truly build a good hype for the game since revealing it at the Electronic Entertainment Expo industry trade show in Lose Angeles back in 2015. It launched in Japan, Europe, and the Americas all within a week of each other.
