Remember the PSN hack fiasco that happened last year? I don't doubt that a lot of people are wary of linking their credit card to the PSN account after that happened. Well, it seems Sony is giving us yet another method to add funds to our PlayStation wallets, as they're now adding PayPal as a payment method for the PSN.
Let me clarify that, Sony is adding PayPal support for the PlayStation Network for PSN EU and other territories. Yep, this feature is not available for U.S. PSN users just yet. Also of note, it's not availabe on the PS3 itself, but you need to access the PSN via its website. Yeah, there are a few kinks left still but at least they're adding the option, no?
Here's what you can expect to see when you try and access it through the website (via NeoGAF):
At the time of this writing, here are the countries that are supporting it now and Sony states, "Please note that your PayPal™ account must be registered in the same country as your Sony Entertainment Network account. For example, if your Sony Entertainment Network account was set up in France, you will only be able to use PayPal™ if your PayPal™ account billing address is also in France."
While there's no confirmation for U.S. PSN users just yet, it wouldn't surprise me to see Sony roll this in with the PSN Store's redesign on October 23.
We'll keep you posted as more news develops.
