James Bond 007: Blood Stone Reviews pc
gamespot.com review
It’s an online feature set that winds up reinforcing the lingering idea that Blood Stone could have been something quite special if it offered a more consistently exciting experience across the board, but the end result is a game that feels held back by a nervous reluctance toward going all in. But when it hits those high notes–which it does more often than not–Blood Stone is a quality action game. From exciting driving to fast-paced and stylish combat, Blood Stone is an enjoyable foray into the world of James Bond in spite of its flaws.

And to Bizarre’s credit, the six-hour single player campaign actually keeps things pretty varied. Blood Stone’s narrative, which follows Bond tracking a bioweapon attack to its source, is pretty basic as well. Still, Daniel Craig and Judi Dench’s voicework is excellent, and it’s nice to see more of the cold, borderline-sociopathic edge Craig has brought to 007. Needless to say, you won’t see MI6’s top agent getting too cozy with any ladies this timeâ€â€it’s all espionage on display here. That being said, Blood Stone isn’t worth $60, but 007 fans will probably get a kick out of it after the inevitable price drop.

In multiplayer, Blood Stone shows a buckload of potential, which sadly will probably fade away unexploited. The few maps are absolutely brilliant when it comes to taking corners and facing the architecture in a duel, but the player number is ridiculously small. The matchmaking seems to work just fine, but you won’t find any ongoing matches during most hours and I imagine that a community this small won’t inspire anyone to add content or tweak the current one to raise balance and competitiveness.

Occasional glimmers of hope with Blood Stone are killed by an unwavering torrent of mediocrity – I haven’t even mentioned the throwaway multiplayer mode, for instance, and I think that’s for the best. While a crippling lack of ambition serves to dampen any fledgling hopes of entertainment, even the cutthroat aspirations of Katie Waissel couldn’t hide the fact Blood Stone is a product built on shaky foundations.
