The 10 Best Weapons From Destiny: Rise of Iron

November 1, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

Rise of Iron has a pretty nifty arsenal selection.

destiny-heade

Destiny received a major expansion this past September known as the Rise of Iron. Now that the expansion has been out for some time now, we can think back to the various weapons that came packed with the expansion for players to take advantage of.

If you’re a new player in the expansion or if you’re just finishing up some of the major content, check out our favorite weapons available from the Rise of Iron.

These are purely subjective picks and we, of course, would like to know your favorite weapons to use at any given time by leaving us a comment down below.

Something Wicked

something-wicked

  • Type: Rocket Launcher
  • Slot: Heavy Weapon
  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Purchase: Crucible Quartermaster (150 Legendary Marks)
  • Dropped: Nightfall

Something Wicked is a legendary weapon that proves to be worth the pickup as the perks can deliver a pretty nasty impact against enemies. To top it off, the reloading for this rocket launcher is rather quick making it a nice substitute for some heavy-impact weapons.

In order to get your own Something Wicked, players will need to purchase it through the Crucible Quartermaster for 150 Legendary Marks.

The Clever Dragon

clever

  • Type: Pulse Rifle
  • Slot: Primary Weapon
  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Purchase: Iron Banner Vendor (25 Legendary Marks)
  • Dropped: Iron Banner Matches

If you have been trying to obtain the Grasp of Malok, then perhaps going for The Clever Dragon may be more worth your time. This is a nice pulse rifle alternative that is a bit easier to obtain than the Grasp of Malok.

In order to obtain this legendary pulse rifle, players will need to purchase it from the Iron Banner Vendor for 25 Legendary Marks, but there is a catch, you will need to be at least rank 5 with Iron Banner. Other ways players can obtain the weapon is by receiving it as a random drop after Iron Banner Matches or as an award by completing the Iron Banner Bounties.

Iron Gjallarhorn

  • Type: Rocket Launcher
  • Slot: Heavy Weapon
  • Rarity: Exotic
  • Purchased: Pre-order Only
  • Dropped: N/A

The Iron Gjallarhorn is a bit more of an exclusive legendary weapon for Destiny players. Essentially, the Iron Gjallarhorn is just the Gjallarhorn. What makes this rocket launcher different is that to obtain this exotic variant, players had to pre-order the Rise of Iron expansion along with completing the Beauty in Destruction quest.

All-in-all, the Gjallarhorn is also a worthy rocket launcher weapon full of perks that could deliver a big impact against enemies, but having the special cosmetic skin certainly lets the weapon stand out just a bit more.

The Palindrome

palin

  • Type: Hand Cannon
  • Slot: Primary Weapon
  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Purchased: Crucible Quartermaster (150 Legendary Marks)
  • Dropped: Nightfall

Chances are you already have The Palindrome in your arsenal as it’s an immensely popular weapon. Labeled as a hand cannon, this little beast of a gun can deliver a high range attack making it great for PvP. Furthermore, there are several perks for this weapon making it a more desirable hand cannon among others.

Gamers can pick up the legendary hand cannon by purchasing it from the Crucible Quartermaster for 150 Legendary Marks or otherwise find it as a drop in Nightfall.

Outbreak Prime

Destiny_20160928184221

  • Type: Pulse Rifle
  • Slot: Primary Weapon
  • Rarity: Exotic
  • Purchased: N/A
  • Dropped: N/A

Outbreak Prime is an exotic pulse rifle that is somewhat similar to the Hacksaw. However, gamers will find that the Outbreak Prime will offer some serious damage to Fallen and it will drop at 390 Light, but to obtain it, gamers will have to deal with the Exotic Quest Channeling the Corruption. Regardless, this primary weapon will be worth completing the level 40 Exotic Quest.

Trespasser

trespasser

  • Type: Sidearm
  • Slot: Special Weapon
  • Rarity: Exotic
  • Purchased: N/A
  • Dropped: Exotic Engrams

Before you write off the Trespasser, it’s worth looking into. Sidearm weapons are not the most popular choice to go with for your special weapon slot, but this exotic sidearm offers enough perks that will buff the weapon excessively. These perks range from Be the Danger, Infuse, Relentless Tracker, Hand Loaded, Unrepentant, among several others. With these perks attached to the Tresspasser, it’s a no wonder as to why you’ll see players load this into their arsenal when it comes to some heavy combat type missions or PvP.

The Wormwood

  • Type: Sidearm
  • Slot: Special Weapon
  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Purchased: Future War Cult Vendor (150 Legendary Marks)
  • Dropped: Nightfall

Again, much like the Trespasser, don’t write off The Wormwood because it’s a sidearm that will take over your Special Weapon slot. This legendary sidearm can be purchased from the Future War Cult Vendor for 150 Legendary Marks and it drops in Nightfall.

What makes this sidearm worth the pickup is its ability to get players out of a close call. Perks, in general, are aimed at offering a fast handling and power such as armor piercing rounds or high caliber rounds.

The Distant Star

maxresdefault

  • Type: Scout Rifle
  • Slot: Primary Weapon
  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Purchased: Iron Banner Vendor (25 Legendary Marks)
  • Dropped: Iron Banner Matches

The Distant Star is a legendary scout rifle that’s great for both PvP and PvE thanks to its selection of  perks. Some of these perks include Kinetic Damage, Infuse, a variety of scopes, Perfect Balance, Injection Mold, Snapshot, Rangefinder, Hidden Hand, and more!

To obtain The Distant Star, gamers will have to purchase it from the Iron Banner Vendor for 25 Legendary Marks. This weapon will also require players to be at least a rank 5 with Iron Banner.

Event Horizon

a

  • Type: Sniper Rifle
  • Slot: Special Weapon
  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Purchased: Crucible Quartermaster (150 Legendary Marks)
  • Dropped: Nightfall

Event Horizon is a legendary sniper rifle that has been a go to when it comes to the Crucible. There is one downside that could sway gamers away from picking up the Event Horizon and that’s the small magazine. Gamers will only have three rounds per magazine, but with perks such as Hidden Hand and its Range of Sights, this is a perfect weapon for taking down enemies effectively from a distance.

Last-Ditch 001

mkqhxtm

  • Type: Shotgun
  • Slot: Special Weapon
  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Purchased: Dead Orbit Vendor (150 Legendary Marks)
  • Dropped: Nightfall

The Last-Ditch 001 is a legendary shotgun that offers a powerful punch at a decent distance. This is due to the perks that can be used such as the Rangefinder or Crowd Control. In order to obtain the Last-Ditch 001 legendary shotgun, players must purchase it from the Dead Orbit Vendor for 150 Legendary Marks and it’s dropped in Nightfall.
