Skyrim Special Edition has more than a few hidden surprises for fans of the original game. Released back in 2011, Skyrim didn’t age quite well with technology due to its 32bit limitation, among other things.
The new version comes with all around better graphics, better lighting and textures, built-in mod support for consoles, and a few other advertised features.
That said, there’s several new enhancements that you might not have known about.
YouTuber Brodual has compiled some of the changes within the new remastered version. His video below explains:
In case you don’t want to watch it, here’s what’s new:
- It’s 64bit – the game’s more stable, provides better framerates, and you can have way more characters on screen fighting at the same time. Civil War mods will no longer lag the game.
- Mountains in the distance no longer flicker, and are rendered in higher quality
- The water has been completely changed. Rivers flow in the right direction and water has physics, so it’ll slow down around obstacles.
- Weather occlusion. Rain and snow will no longer clip into buildings or areas sheltered from rain.
- You can now loot the Torturer’s Hood at the start of the game.
