Who doesn’t love a good RPG? In this list, we’re going to showcase a few that we can’t wait to get our hands on in 2025.
#31 Elden Ring Nightreign

The team at FromSoftware has done their best to expand their skills and to push the Soulslike genre to new heights. However, with Elden Ring Nightreign, they’re pushing the theme of the game into an entirely new direction! After all, this isn’t another massive single-player campaign. Instead, it’s all about the power of co-op play and seeing how well you work in a team.
You’ll pick a class of warrior and work alongside your allies to face challenges big and small. With each session you do, you’ll face new foes and bosses. That means that every single adventure will be different. You up for that?
#30 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is one RPG worth revisiting if you played the original release, or for the first time. Much like the other franchise installments, this is an open-world fantasy RPG. You’ll create your hero, explore the world, and pick up quests.
You’ll level your character up, unlock new skills, seek out some precious gear, join factions, and more. Sure, some kind of demonic invasion might flood this world, but don’t let that stop you from having a good time. Explore this world and immerse yourself in the province. Just be prepared to sink more than a few hours into this game, as putting it down might be tough.
#29 Where Winds Meet

You likely have heard about Where Winds Meet for a while now, as there’s a hype about the game that many are curious about. The title is set in 10th-century China, and you’ll play a swordsman with a unique destiny that players decide how to play out.
One of the key elements of the game is the combat styles. While you are a swordsman, that’s not all you can do. You’ll embrace China’s vast martial arts styles and see how they change your combat tactics. The open-world game will have numerous adventures for you to partake in as you help usher in the end of an age.
#28 Little Devil Inside

Here’s a title that grew quite a following on Kickstarter, which allowed it to reach the funding goal it needed to be made! In Little Devil Inside, you’ll play as an assistant to someone who’s job it is to explore the world and figure out what kinds of monsters live within it. There is an overarching story about saving the world and taking out certain monsters, but that’s not the only intention here.
The true goal is to see the world through a new perspective and witness all it has to offer. Through this action RPG experience, you might find more than you bargained for once you play.
#27 The Wayward Realms

You know you’re trying to make something different when you claim your new title will be a “Grand RPG” instead of just a regular one. The team behind The Wayward Realms is attempting to make an RPG title that will usurp all others, including making it so every choice the player makes truly affects the world around them.
Your character will be rooted in The Archipelago, an island chain of 100-island bodies strong, and each is realistically proportioned. Within this island chain are numerous factions who have claimed islands for their own, seek to expand, and wish to quash any who get in their way.
Via a “game master,” the title will constantly evolve, and you’ll need to evolve with it.
#26 Farathan

The story of Farathan takes place in a world where your father set up a human kingdom. However, he vanished when he tried to take the orc homeland for your people. Fast forward over a decade, and you’re asked to take the crown to lead the people out of a brewing civil war.
However, before you can make it to your destination, orcs ambush you, nearly drowned in a river, head your head so hard you forget your skills, and must decide what to do next.
The world is yours to wander at your leisure, and you can attempt to reclaim the throne or do whatever else you desire. It’s your story. Tell it how you want.
#25 Lost Soul Aside

While there aren’t many details for Lost Soul Aside just yet, the looks and gameplay are being touted as rather unique. For example, the battles are said to be both “fluid” and “intense.” But obviously, you’ll be able to judge that for yourself once you get your hands on the title.
No matter what you think about it, numerous things will stand in your way as you attempt to clear the story. But what other challenges await? Will it live up to the hype that the team at Ultizero Games has promised? You’ll have to wait and see!
#24 Chrono Odyssey

The team behind Chrono Odyssey notes that the game may look like “another MMORPG on the market,” but they’ve worked hard to ensure that’s not the case. Not the least is using their own gaming experience to talk about what works, what doesn’t, and how to make things more unique. Plus, the game is on Unreal Engine 5, which means top-of-the-line graphics await.
The game’s world and combat are also special. The game will have “seasons” that make the world shift in one form or another. As for combat, a “time element” will make things much different from other MMORPGs. Plus, you can team up with hundreds of players to complete certain tasks!
#23 BitCraft

MMORPGs are known for giving the player a world to enjoy and then seeing what you can do in it. But in BitCraft, they’re going to literally change the game by giving you a world you can build and create at your leisure.
Through this “community-driven sandbox,” you can build towns wherever you want them and see how big you can make them! Or you can build up things like fortresses to protect what you feel you deserve.
No matter what you build, you’ll want to venture deeper into the world so you can find more resources to build things up and new places to put things in.
#22 Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Vampire society has done its best to keep itself hidden from humanity as a whole. But in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, all of Seattle is on the brink of war, and you’re the one who will either keep it together or push it over the edge.
You’ll play an Elder Vampire who must make key choices within vampire society to see what happens next. Through your actions, you’ll ally yourself with other vampires, humans, or creatures that walk the streets at night. But don’t forget to feed, and be careful about when and how you do it.
Use every gift your vampiric body allows to get the job done and shape the future how you desire it.
#21 ARK 2

When you wake up in a world you don’t recognize, and everything you see feels out of place, you’ll need to figure out what’s going on quickly.
ARK 2 offers an expansive world to explore and seek the truth within. You must seek out the history of this place and attempt to discover what brought you to it. But be warned! There are many dangers within, including dinosaurs, tribes of people, and more!
Plus, you’ll get to meet up with “heroes” and team up with them to survive the harsh environments. Did we mention that one of those heroes is Vin Diesel? Because it is!
#20 The First Berserker: Khazan

Not all heroes are forever beloved by the people that they saved. In The First Berserker: Khazan, you’ll experience this firsthand, as you’ll play Khazan, a mythical figure who saved the people of his realm from terrible threats, only to be betrayed by those he helped save. The conspiracy goes far deeper than he realizes, and so, Khazan must rise again and take back his freedom, power, and name so that he can once again become the hero that was known by all.
You’ll unleash powerful attacks against those that attempt to stand in your way, and you’ll see just how far you’re willing to get to get back what’s yours.
#19 Phantom Blade Zero

There’s a lot of buzz about Phantom Blade Zero, and it’s not hard to see why, as the game appears to be a special mix of the action RPG gameplay that many are accustomed to enjoying, while also blending in a unique Chinese mythology world that has all manner of monsters to defeat.
You play Soul, an assassin that once belonged to “The Order,” however, as you might have guessed, that relationship didn’t last long. He was framed for a murder and was killed by his old crew. After being resurrected, but having only so much time to live, Soul must learn the truth and use his weapons to slice up anyone who tries to stop him.
#18 Terminator: Survivors

We all know the line that Arnold said in the second movie, “Judgment Day is inevitable.” Well, in Terminator: Survivors, you’ll get to live that reality and fight to stay alive as Skynet and others try to take you down.
You’ll become the leader of a small group who’s attempting to survive in the Terminator-infested world post-Judgment Day. Your goal is to venture out into the world, get supplies, avoid the Terminators, and get back to your crew so you can attempt to rebuild life as you knew it.
However, the truth is still out there waiting to be learned, and whether you see it out or not, the danger of this world is truly all around you.
#17 Atomfall

Imagine a world that is truly set within our own but takes a modern “alternate history” to things that can make it feel like a true sign of the future. That’s the backbone of Atomfall, as it takes place in England after a real-life nuclear event goes far from what happened in our world. Instead of it being “handled,” it turns into a disaster, and that means the entire nation is a quarantine zone of its own making.
You are one of the survivors of this incident, and five years later, you attempt to work your way through the vastly changed landscape to get supplies and survive all that you find out there. What will you find out there? Play the game and find out!
#16 Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you’ll enter a dangerous world where a “paintress” curses the population with a special painting that she does every year. The “painting” she does is of a number, and all of that age are wiped from the world simply because she willed it to be.
As the number of her painting reaches 33, you gather a group to work your way to her and end her life so that no more death can be caused by her hand.
You’ll build your team and craft them to fit your playstyle so that you have a chance to take this painter down. Work together, defy her will, and save this world.
#15 Hell is Us

There is a civil war tearing up your country, which should be more than enough to keep you occupied and wondering what will happen next. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, other beings start showing up. These monsters aren’t just powerful; they can defy the weapons that most have, leading you to try to figure out what they are and how they can be defeated.
What separates this RPG from others is that you won’t have a map to help you get from one spot to the next. You’ll need to wander around and see where you think things will end up. Just be careful, with each step you take, the closer you get to danger.
#14 Light No Fire

Oftentimes, RPGs bless you with a big world to explore and ask you to save it because you are the “chosen one” who is destined to do so. However, with Light No Fire, the role is a bit different.
Instead of being within a specific realm, you’ll have an entire planet to explore! The land has many secrets to be revealed, and you can uncover them as you wander around it.
Your goal here is to build a life upon this land, and other players will be doing the same as they explore it at the same time! So set off for adventure and see what you find!
#13 Soulframe

There are certain teams in the RPG space that have proven themselves many times over. Digital Extremes is one of those squads. After all, they have one of the most successful live-service games that they built up over a decade, grew a loyal fanbase through, and showcased how it’s supposed to be handled. Now, they’re aiming to do that again with Soulframe.
In this title, you end up on the island of Midrath, where things are bound within both song and sorcery. The ancestors of this land are begging to be saved, and they need an Envoy like you to do it. So, can you help free this land from what’s afflicting it?
#12 Dying Light: The Beast

Vengeance never looked so beastly. In Dying Light: The Beast, you’ll get to be Kyle Crane once more. Long after his adventures in the original game, he’s being called upon again to save people, while also getting revenge on those who experimented on him for over a decade.
Within the Castor Woods lies many dangers, but there are also people simply looking to get by. During the day, you’ll wander through the woods and do what you can to get resources and fight off threats. Then, during the night, the monsters come out to play, and you’ll need to use your new abilities to put them down. Be the beast and save the day!
#11 Project Mugen

While we aren’t sure when Project Mugen will release, there is hope that it could launch in 2025. Or, if nothing else, we’ll get more information on it next year.
The game takes place in an anime-style world where a group of beings called Espers watch over humanity and attempt to stop supernatural events from occurring. Each Esper has a special ability that they can use to take on these dangers, and they all have a story to tell.
With a growing threat of “Chaos” emerging within the world’s cities, you’ll have your hands full as you travel around in style and attempt to learn the truth.
#10 Dragonkin: The Banished

What will it take to save the land you live upon? In Dragonkin: The Banished, that won’t be an easy question to answer because it’s the race of dragons that turned your land into the monster-filled realm you now reside in. To take them on, you must fight through the hordes and slowly make your way to the Dragon Lords themselves so that you can cleanse the world of the blood they have spilled upon it.
The game gives you plenty of freedom to make your warrior the way you desire. So try out various methods and builds, and become what you need to be to slay dragons without issue.
#9 WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers

The Ming Dynasty never looked like this in our history books! We’re just saying. In WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, you’ll go to an alternate version of China, where a mysterious plague has crept over the land and changed the people within into monsters.
You play a pirate who has lost her memories and must work her way through the land and the beasts within to reclaim it. The catch with her is that this pirate is infected by the very plague that is transforming others. However, she can harness it to unlock special powers that make her even deadlier in battle.
Unlock your memory and learn the truth about all that’s happening!
#8 Assassin’s Creed Shadows

We work in the shadows, to serve the light! Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the next entry in the beloved Ubisoft series, and after numerous games, it’s finally time to enter Feudal Japan! This time around, you’ll get the option to choose between two protagonists to see how to handle certain situations.
There’s Yasuke, the legendary “Black Samurai,” who wishes to wipe off the stain that many have put on the Samurai name! Then, there’s Naoe, a ninja who had to watch her village get wiped out and wants revenge!
Through their unique skills and weapons, you’ll go through Japan and attempt to still the corruption that spreads through the lands!
#7 Avowed

Few groups are more trustworthy with the RPG genre than Obsidian Entertainment. After all, on both a 3D, 2D, and top-down level, they’re known to make literal masterpieces that other developers wish they could compare with. In Avowed, they’re going back to the 3D first-person perspective to deliver a new adventure in a familiar world.
You’re sent to the Living Lands, where a plague has spread across them, and you need to learn why. However, as you travel, you’ll come across more than just monsters to fight, but people to help, fates to determine, and possibly, the truth about who you are and why you are so connected to this place.
#6 Dune Awakening

If you’ve watched the recent blockbuster movies, then you might be seriously hyped for Dune Awakening. The game takes place on the planet of Arakais and lets you attempt to build a house and legacy for yourself.
You can choose to be one of the great races or simply someone who desires an opportunity to create something special. You’ll travel the land, get spice to power your various crafts, make allies that align with your goals, and take on enemy players who stand as your rivals.
On this planet, power is earned and taken. Choose the path you wish to set out on, and witness the glory that you can get the further you push through the sands.
#5 The Outer Worlds 2

Obsidian Entertainment is one of the best at what they do, and just about everyone admits it. So, when they announced The Outer Worlds 2, we all knew that another grand RPG was heading our way.
The first one was a blast simply because it poked fun at both our world, and how RPGs can allow you to make various choices to guide the plot. So, now imagine what Obsidian will do knowing how people reacted and acted in the first game! Exactly, they’ll go even crazier with the sequel.
So, when it comes out, you’ll want to be prepared for insane characters, planets, combat, and more.
#4 Witcher Remake

Ah, the upcoming Witcher Remake, which will bring the original gaming adventure featuring Geralt of Rivia to a new, modern audience, and improve on some things that CD Projekt Red couldn’t do in the past.
As noted, you’ll play Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher who is blessed and cursed with special strength and abilities that allow him to take on some of the fiercest monsters of the land and claim the rewards that come with them.
However, he’s soon thrown into much bigger dangers and stakes, which will push his skills to the test. Travel the lands, fight monsters, and maybe even save the day!
#3 Borderlands 4

It doesn’t matter what time or place on Pandora; there ain’t no rest for the wicked.
Yes, Gearbox Software has officially confirmed that Borderlands 4 is coming, and that there are brand new dangers that await those who dare to go into the vaults and beyond.
Sure, we don’t have too many details due to us just getting the teaser not too long ago, but we know that the title will have LOTS of guns for players to shoot, plenty of enemies to kill, and a variety of characters to start from.
Plus, we know that, if nothing else, the game will be NOTHING like that terrible movie.
#2 Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Are you ready to continue the adventures of Henry of Skalitz? If so, prepare to dive into the action-packed RPG madness that is Kingdom Come Deliverance II! In the game, which follows up on the first title’s events, Henry is put in a precarious position and must work his way up through the ranks once more to prove who he is and get revenge on those who destroyed his village.
The RPG elements don’t just come in how you handle combat but how you handle situations as a whole. You can try talking your way out of any situation or fight it out if you feel that’s easier.
Your choices will affect the story and world, so be ready.
#1 Monster Hunter Wilds

Look, we know that it took a while for Capcom to “find the audience” for its RPG franchise, but once it did, it took off huge, and the publisher has been raking in the money ever since. So, with Monster Hunter Wilds, you know that they’re taking this RPG to as many extremes as possible to ensure that gamers get everything they want from it and more.
Just like in past titles, you’ll be part of a monster-hunting guild that goes out to various biomes trying to take down monsters to protect the human population.
With each enemy you defeat, you’ll gather materials so that you can craft new armor and weapons to take on even greater threats.
