6. AFGHANISTAN WAR:
PREMISE:
The war in Afghanistan is the period in which the United States invaded the country after the September 11 attacks in 2001. This war features ‘Murica, NATO and other close allies. The general aim was to dismantle al-Qaeda and deny it a safe base of operations by removing the Taliban from power. There’s plenty of fuel for the fire here, if Call of Duty is indeed the flame.
WEAPONS:
The variety of weaponry used in the Afghanistan War is massive. Let me list off a few options that could see play in a future Call of Duty.
- UAV
- Drones
- M-ATVS
- M1911, M11, M9, MP5, M16, M4’s (Okay come on, you Americans are obsessed with the letter “M”)
Basically just a huge array of modern day firepower, vehicles, and explosives. This ticks all the Call of Duty boxes as far as I’m concerned.
LIKELIHOOD:
We’ve already seen at least prior Call of Duty make it’s way to Afghanistan for a mission or two, so we know the content is there. The Afghanistan War should be covered in a future Call of Duty, a grounded Battlefield: Bad Company 2 personality driven co-op Campaign would do it well, if not for the vast range of boom-boom things available.
