Pikmin 4 – How To Defeat The Nonexistent Entity | Boss Guide

July 25, 2023 by Adam Carr

Pikmin 4 pulls the rug from under your feet on numerous occasions, but the introduction of the Nonexistent Entity is on another level.

Pikmin 4 is littered with subterranean caves that house all manner of monsters and treasures. Venturing into the depths of the earth is always dangerous, but early on, the dark doesn’t put up that much of a fight. Things change very quickly once you dare delve into the Engulfed Castle, however.

The moment you step into this cave a creature is awoken – although you don’t know it yet. An invisible timer ticks away, and if you take too long to leave any given floor, an incorporeal being hell-bent on your destruction will be hunting you. This creature is the Nonexistent Entity, and it’s quite the pain in Onion.

What Is The Nonexistent Entity?

A bit of an odd question since the name implies it doesn’t exist – that it may not be real at all. But it does exist, and it’s not a fun time. The Nonexistent Entity is completely impervious to all attacks and it will seek out Pikmin and brutally murder them with its giant rollers. Not only that, but it will also kill any enemies that just so happen to get in its way.

To make things even worse, it’s very fast. Once it’s spawned, there is a very high chance you are going to lose some Pikmin. We advise leaving as soon as you can as this thing can’t be killed – not initially anyway. The game hints at a potential weakness to gravitational forces – something you can’t harness when you first meet the Nonexistent Entity.

Nonexistent Entity’s Attacks

This guy only has one attack, and this is to chase down the nearest thing and crush it under its metal rollers. This is instant death for most things. Theoretically, Rock Pikmin should be able to survive…unfortunately, Rock Pikmin can’t enter this Cave, only Blue Pikmin can.

To avoid this attack you want to recall all of your Pikmin to you and have them ride Oatchi. From here, you want to leave the floor as soon as possible. The Nonexistent Entity will follow you, but each floor has an invisible timer. You will have a few minutes of freedom before it catches up to you.

How To Kill The Nonexistent Entity In Pikmin 4

You can’t until you reach Floor 5. Once you get here you will encounter 2 Purple Candypop Buds. These allow you to convert any Pikmin into a new kind of Pikmin – the Purple Pikmin. These Pikmin are very handy because when thrown, they cause a gravitational shockwave.

With your new Pikmin in hand, go into the large circular arena to take down the Nonexistent Entity once and for all. All you have to do is dodge his roller attack and then throw a Purple Pikmin near them. This will cause the Nonexistent Entity to take corporeal form and be stunned. Send all of your Pikmin in to attack (Ultra Spice helps here) and finish it off. It may take a couple of cycles to win the fight, but with Purple Pikmin under your command, the Nonexistent Entity should go down without much of a hassle.

That’s all we have on Pikmin 4 for now. Be sure to check out our other Guides and Lists for more Pikmin content.
