Like his banner buddy Xiao, Alhaitham is also a Main DPS character. Making his debut in the first phase of Genshin Impact Version 3.4, Alhaitham slowly but surely adds to the ranks of the playable Dendro characters. So if you’re kind of done with using the Traveler, Alhaitham can swap in.
Alhaitham’s power comes from his Chisel-Light Mirrors, which are a part of his Elemental Skill. So any DMG deriving from Chisel-Light Mirror scales off of Alhaitham’s Elemental Skill, not his Elemental Burst. If you need to prioritize your resources, focus on Alhaitham’s Elemental Skill first. Then, go for his Normal Attack. Finally, save his Elemental Burst for last.
Combat Talents
Normal Attack – Abductive Reasoning
Nothing special happens here. Alhaitham can perform up to 5 consecutive strikes during his Normal Attack. His Charged Attack unleashed 2 sword strikes, not the usual one.
Alhaitham relies on his Normal Attack to generate Chisel-Light Mirrors. So even though Chisel-Light Mirror damage comes from Alhaitham’s Elemental Skill, you need to perform Normal Attacks in order to get those Mirrors. Due to this reliance, you want Alhaitham’s Normal Attack to do some damage.
Elemental Skill – Universality: An Elaboration on Form
Alhaitham performs a rush attack, dealing Dendro DMG before creating a Chisel-Light Mirror. If you hold the Skill, you can aim Alhaitham’s attack.
The key here is the Chisel-Light Mirrors. Once Alhaitham uses his Skill, he will generate 1 Mirror. If he doesn’t have any other Mirrors, then the Skill will generate another. So if Alhaitham starts his Skill without Mirrors, using the Skill will generate 2. Mirrors add two effects to Alhaitham’s combat.
First, when Alhaitham has at least one Mirror, all of his Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks will be converted to Dendro DMG. Second, when Alhaitham’s Normal Attacks hit opponents, the Mirrors unleash a Projection Attack – this is how Alhaitham deals the most damage. The Projection Attack deals AoE Dendro DMG based on the number of Mirrors on the field.
Alhaitham can have a total of 3 Mirrors at once. The Mirrors disappear if they’re consumed by Alhaitham’s Projection Attack, their duration ends, or Alhaitham leaves the field.
Elemental Burst – Particular Field: Fetters of Phenomena
Using Alhaitham’s Burst creates a Particular Binding Field that deals AoE Dendro DMG. If any Chisel-Light Mirrors exist when you use his Burst, all Mirrors will be consumed and increase the number of times his Dendro DMG strikes. So the more Mirrors you have, the more Dendro DMG strikes you’ll generate.
2 seconds after using his Burst, Alhaitham will generate new Mirrors depending on the number consumed by his Burst. The fewer Mirrors the Burst consumes, the more Mirrors Alhaitham will generate. For example, if Alhaitham consumes 0 Mirrors, he will generate 3 Mirrors. But if Alhaitham consumes 3 Mirrors, he will not generate any Mirrors.
Passive Talents
1st Ascension – Four-Causal Correction
This Passive immediately activates when you ascend Alhaitham for the first time. When Alhaitham’s Charged or Plunging Attacks hit opponents, they will generate 1 Chisel-Light Mirror. This can occur once every 12 seconds.
Essentially, if you get Alhaitham past his first Ascension, you should see improvement in his damage. His Skill relies on generating those Mirrors for his Projection Attack – more Mirrors means more damage.
4th Ascension – Mysteries Laid Bare
This Passive immediately activates when you ascend Alhaitham for the fourth time. Each point of Alhaitham’s Elemental Mastery will increase the DMG dealt by Projection Attacks and Elemental Burst by 0.1%. You can increase DMG in this way up to 100%.
Basically, if you have enough EM on Alhaitham, you can automatically double his Projection Attack and Burst DMG. Right now, it’s probably not possible to get the full 100% DMG. At 0.1% per EM point, you would need 1,000 EM points to get the full 100% DMG bonus.
Utility Passive – Law of Reductive Overdetermination
Alhaitham shares a Utility Passive with Albedo and Kamisato Ayaka. When Alhaitham crafts Weapon Ascension Materials, he has a 10% chance to receive double the product. So if you choose Alhaitham to craft your Boreal Wolf’s Milk Tooth into Boreal Wolf’s Cracked Tooth, Alhaitham may double the number of Boreal Wolf’s Cracked Tooth you get.
