The post-game results screen has changed in the transition from Overwatch to Overwatch 2. While you still get to see the Play of the Game, a there has been a big tweak to the old system of player feedback and reinforcement. We are talking about the changes made to endorsements.

Endorsements are a feature in Overwatch 2 that are designed for players to give each other positive reinforcement. At the end of a match you have the option to endorse up to two of your four teammates. You might also notice that in this period before the next match you might be receiving endorsements. But what exactly do these endorsements mean and do they provide players any tangible benefit in the meta-game of Overwatch 2?

What Are Endorsements?

Endorsements are a way of recognizing a teammate for good behavior or skillful play at the end of a match. In the original Overwatch, players could assign endorsements to one player in each of three different categories. Overwatch 2 has simplified that system by quite a bit. Now you can give out two general endorsements at the end of a match. These endorsements are tracked and Blizzard is rewarding you for your Endorsement Level, the game just isn’t being very clear about it.

Blizzard has implemented some restrictions to prevent cheating. Endorsing the same player more than once in a 12-hour period is forbidden and you are not allowed to endorse friends at all.

What Do Endorsements Mean in Overwatch 2?

A great place to start explaining how endorsements work in Overwatch 2 is the post-game endorsement screen. Here you can see a number next to each of your teammates. This is their Endorsement Level, which goes up as players receive more endorsements from teammates. This rank begins at one and can go up to five.

As your Endorsement Level grows you will earn extra Battle Pass XP at random intervals. As you level up the amount of XP these drops earn you will increase.

Your Endorsement Rank isn’t as readily viewable as your Battle Pass level, for example, but players can go to their Career Profile to check it. Your Endorsement Rank number can be found in Overview tab. You can visit the Social Menu to check the Endorsement levels of members of your friends list and recent players.
