Star Wars Battlefront Multiplayer Beta Guide: Tips and Tricks to Winning

October 9, 2015 by Holly Green

This guide for Star Wars Battlefront will teach you how to come up on top of the scoreboards and bring your team to victory.

The beta for Star Wars Battlefront is in full swing, and players have just begun to get the hang of the game. The beta offers three gameplay modes, each with its own nuances and potential strategies.

WIth that in mind, we've put together this guide replete with a variety of tips and tricks to help you win.

Use Orbital Strikes To Take Down AT-ATs

You'll want to take down AT-AT's first because of the sheer amount of damage they can cause. Use an orbital bombardment to take down an AT-AT. Combine it with the Snowspeeder, A-Wing, X-Wing and Anti-Vehicular turret for maximum effect. We detailed this strategy even further in this guide.

Buy Charges before Battle

Before heading into battle, buy extra charges. You don't want to be caught in battle without having a key item, like your Personal Shield or your Jump Pack. Charges can be collected out on the field, but you only get one at a time, so it's better to purchase them beforehand.

Help! I Keep Dying In Walker Assault!

Are you struggling to stay alive in Walker Assault? Start in Drop Zone instead. It gives you more experience and more time to rack up experience points and kills. Use the opportunity to upgrade and get more familiar with the controls.

Third Person vs. First Person: Which Should You Choose?

Third person, or first person? If you find yourself trying to figure out what view to use while you play, be aware that third person has vast advantages over first. The over the shoulder look makes it much easier to assess threats and gauge the proximity of nearby enemies. It will also help you navigate your cover system. If you like to switch between the two, press Down on the Dpad (or C on the keyboard). Get comfortable switching between the two so you can take advantage of the wider field of vision and superior strafing with 3rd person, and also the precision and aiming of first person.

Shoot In Bursts, Mind The Grenades, And Grab Yourself The DLT-19

If you need an all-around good weapon to start the game with, pick the DLT-19. It's powerful and packs a lot of ammunition. Also be sure to only fire in bursts, as the weapons will overheat and you will be forced to take cover or evade enemies while you wait for it to cool down. Shooting in bursts also gives you a chance to re-aim your weapon as enemies move on the field. The overheating mechanism works in three stages, and the weapon becomes more difficult to cool down as time goes on. You can "cheat" a little however, resetting it by firing off your gun in a private corner to get back to the first stage, reducing cooldown time.

Remember to use grenades liberally. You have a more or less infinite supply. They do require recharging but you should be trying to actively empty your grenade stash at all times.

Hero Pickups

The hero pickup system is completely random. There are two hero pickup areas on the map, one near Rebel locations and one near the Empire, and it's a race to see who gets there first, as the second will disappear when the first is grabbed. Rush to it as fast as you can to get a chance to play as a Star Wars hero, like Luke Skywalker.
