Trek to Yomi: How to Defeat Chapter 5 Boss | Sanjuro Demon Boss Fight Guide

May 24, 2022 by Matt Villei

The Master and the Student face off in the Land of the Dead…

Trek to Yomi‘s journey through the titular Land of the Dead sees the game’s protagonist, Hiroki, facing off against many faces from his past. The boss that he must takedown at the end of Chapter 5 is the Sanjuro Demon, a beast-like version of his fallen sensei and father to his love, Aiko. Not only will you want to take him down, but you will want to know how to do so as effectively as possible so that you can get the “Forgive Me, Sensei” achievement, which you unlock by defeating Sanjuro Demon without taking damage. This guide will provide players with tips and tricks on how to defeat the Chapter 5 boss, Sanjuro Demon, in Trek to Yomi.

How To Defeat Chapter 5 Boss Sanjuro Demon In Trek To Yomi

Despite his size, Sanjuro Demon is very mobile due to the face that he levitates through the air, being able to glide across the arena with ease. This fast movement along with his long-reaching and hard-hitting spear makes him a hard boss to pin down. Luckily, his actual attacks a highly telegraphed, making it possible to avoid his attacks does leave him open for punishment.

Blocking is not really the best choice in this fight, with the best course of action being to utilize your roll dodge to get through attacks. He has multiple attacks that are, as mentioned before, telegraphed well enough that you can dodge and use that time to get a few hit in. Don’t get too greedy, however, and use as much of your ranged abilities as you can. His big move is a leaping attack that will see Sanjuro Demon jump backward in an arc and then come back in that same arc while bringing down his mighty spear. Getting hit by this will knock you flat on your back, so time your dodge well and you can get some good damage in.

Defeating Sanjuro will return him to his regular form, allowing you to make your second dialogue choice in the game. Once you make your decision, a cutscene will begin that brings Chapter 5 to a close.
