Every Singleplayer Level In Multiplayer [Turok 2]
I’ve got some great memories playing multiplayer matches endlessly with friends and family on the N64. As a little kid, you use your imagination to dream up new scenarios that absolutely are not supported by the game you’re playing — you couldn’t play most FPS games with friends yet, so we’d pretend the multiplayer levels were singleplayer levels, and someone played the designated enemy.
None of that nonsense is necessary in Turok 2. Using cheat codes, you and a few friends could actually load up singleplayer levels while you’re in multiplayer. Some of the levels were extremely buggy using this method, and it leads to a whole lot of crashing, but those are the lengths we had to go to shoot AI bad guys with a friend.
Race With A Friendly Cheat [Diddy Kong Racing]
Cooperative modes were so rare and experimental during the N64 years lots of games hid these features behind cheat codes. What makes Diddy Kong Racing so bizarre is that there’s an entire two-player adventure mode hidden behind a cheat code — one that two friends can play together. I’ve never heard of a racing game with this feature, and I’m guessing the reason it wasn’t advertised is because it makes the game way too dang easy.
Diddy Kong Racing is a pretty tough game — or I thought so back when I was a baby — but once you get a second player on your side, that makes things a whole lot easier. As long as both players are working together, you can target the AI with power-ups and cut a swath of banana-based destruction through every track. If you’re happy with 1st and 2nd Place, you’ll be fine.
