#2 CrossFire X
CrossFire is a pretty old game today as it released all the way back in 2007 from the development team Smilegate before slowly making its way to other markets on the PC platform. While it didn’t have the biggest success over here in the western markets, this next iteration may change that up. We know that a new remake of the game is in the works known as CrossFire X that has two development teams crafting the title up for a release later this year.
With Smilegate handling the online multiplayer component, Remedy Entertainment is taking care of the campaign game mode. If you’re unfamiliar with Remedy Entertainment, these are the folks that handled Alan Wake and most recently, Control. Overall, the game is still set up the same as a first-person shooter with a multiplayer focus. We also know that there are quite a few different online game modes to pick from that will alter the maps or rule set in the original CrossFire installment, but we’re uncertain if these game modes will make their way onto the upcoming release of CrossFire X. Only time will tell if this latest attempt to bring the franchise over into the western markets will work out for Smilegate.
#1 Call of Duty Warzone
There is a massive market for battle royale video game titles and we are seeing an influx of new video game titles for the genre flood into the market. While most of these games tend to not last it doesn’t stop a few notable IPs from giving it a shot. For instance, this year we got the release of Call of Duty Warzone. It was rumored that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would receive a battle royale game mode after launch and not only did we receive the game mode, it released as a free-to-play title as well.
This game acts very much alike other battle royale games. Players are tossed into a large map and the ultimate goal is to be the last man standing. As time counts down, the map size shrinks forcing players to get closer. Meanwhile, you will need to seek out resources and other goods to help give your character loadout a better edge over the competition. Everything that you would expect from a Call of Duty title is here as well with the various load-outs, perks, and game mechanics featured in the most recent release for the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
We may even see more content get added into the mix from future Call of Duty titles, although at the time of writing this description, we haven’t seen anything official regarding the next mainline Call of Duty title quite yet so nothing has been added into Warzone. Since this game is out, you can get even more details about the title, some gameplay footage along with our overall impressions in the Before You Buy episode upload above.
