The Outer Worlds: Use This Trick To Upgrade & Deal Insane Damage | Best Weapon Guide

October 30, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Use this simple trick in The Outer Worlds to melt every enemy in the game at any difficulty.

Want to absolutely destroy everything with the most overpowered weapon in The Outer Worlds? It’s going to take a little trickery, but there’s a way to become an unstoppable killing machine pretty early in your adventure. If you’ve hit Level 10 and you’re on the Groundbreaker, you’ll be able to harness the insane power of the Prismatic Hammer. It doesn’t seem all that impressive at first, but with a little tinkering, we can make it truly OP.

And anyone can do it. You don’t need to pre-plan your build, you just need 500 bits for the respect terminal in your ship. Using this extremely easy method, and by selecting the best companions for the job, you can upgrade every Science weapon, turning your team into a killer party that wipes the floor with everything, even on the highest difficulty levels. It doesn’t even cost that much money! A few hundred bits, and you’re good to go.

Best Weapons Guide | How To Become Unstoppable

You can make yourself unstoppable with this simple method — here, we’re going to abuse two factors; tinkering, and the respec terminal. By Level 10, you can become an unstoppable force and it won’t even cost you a lot of bits. You can power yourself up, and upgrade your allies to become killing machines.

For this trick, we’re going to use the respec terminal to give the main character 100 Science skill. At 100 Science, all Tinker costs are 90% cheaper. At 80 Science, all Science Weapons are capped. With both, you can turn Science Weapons into insane tools of destruction.

  • Reach Level 10 and unlock Sam and Vicar Max for your party.
  • Go to the Respec terminal in the Unreliable and respect.
  • Give yourself 100 Science skill.
  • Tinker your Science Weapons to maximum. At the cap, it’ll only cost 200 bits — instead of the normal huge bit cost.
  • Return to the Respec terminal and respect again. Everything you tinkered will still be insanely powerful.

The Prismatic Hammer is the best Science Weapon for pure damage. Vicar Max and Sam have Perks that increase damage — check all your characters, Vicar Max can unlock a perk that increases Science Weapon damage by +20%.

The Prismatic Hammer is located on the Groundbreaker. Enter the bunk room to the left of the Promenade entrance and climb onto the beds. Sneak into the hidden room through the vent, and kill the guards to collect a key to the locked door — the Prismatic Hammer is inside.

The Prismatic Hammer has a killer Power Attack, and deals all elemental damage types at the same time. Bring characters with perks that increase Science Weapon Damage, and select perks of your own that increase it further — you can boost Science Weapon Damage by +120% with Vicar Max and your player character’s perks.

Increase damage even further with Sneak Attacks and boost Melee Damage, and nothing can stand in your way. You can also use this trick to tinker any of your weapons — tinker your armor, weapons, and all your companion gear too. Then just swap back and keep the spoils.
