30 Games of 2019 That Will Blow Your Mind

December 11, 2018 by Dennis Patrick

2019 is shaping up to be a year for the video game industry.

#20 Shen Megami Tensei V
  • Developer: Atlus
  • Publisher: Atlus
  • Platforms: NS
  • Release: TBA

Shin Megami Tensei V is currently in development by Atlus and gamers can expect a release on the Nintendo Switch. There are very few details right now in regards to the game though we can still expect the title to take place in present-day Tokyo.

Developers have noted that there would be more of a focus on the Nintendo Switch capabilities as a home console along with the ability to take the Nintendo Switch on-the-go. Unfortunately, the finer details such as the narrative and what new elements are set to be present in the game remain to be seen.

#19 Gears of War 5
  • Developer: The Coalition
  • Publisher: Microsoft Studios
  • Platforms: XBO, PC
  • Release: 2019

Gears of War 5, which is also known simply as Gears 5, will follow a female protagonist Kait Diaz. So far what we know about the game is that the story will follow Kait as she embarks away from COG, or known as The Coalition of Ordered Governments Army. Apparently, within the game, Kait has been dealing with visions that may take her journey to showcase truth behind the origins of the Locust. Gameplay seems to be in line with the past installments. Players will be going through cover-based combat while also sawing through hostilities.

#18 Kingdom Hearts 3
  • Developer: Square Enix
  • Publisher: Square Enix
  • Platforms: PS4, XBO
  • Release: January 29, 2019

Kingdom Hearts III is the next major installment to the Kingdom Hearts franchise. After several years, we’re finally receiving the game in January of 2019 and during E3 2018, we’ve seen plenty of Disney characters who will make an appearance within the game.

Sora and his gang are back as they battle evil and roam the different Disney themed planets. For instance, we know that Pirates of the Caribbean, Monsters Inc, Hercules, Toy Story, and Frozen will be present within the game and now that we have an official release date, we can finally see where the story takes us in the coming months. Luckily if you haven’t been well versed in the past Kingdom Hearts titles then Square Enix will offer a brief recap of events to get you going with the latest main installment.

#17 Dragon Age: Dread Wolf Rises
  • Developer: BioWare
  • Publisher: BioWare
  • Platforms: N/A
  • Release: N/A

The Dragon Age franchise received a new title announcement during The Game Awards 2018 though we didn’t get a ton of information. It appears that the game will be called Dragon Age: The Dread Wolf Rises and will be taking place after the last DLC events of Dragon Age: Inquisition, we’ll avoid spoiling anything for now if you have yet to try the game out.

As mentioned this is just a small teaser, something essentially to confirm that BioWare is working on the game and they are not ready to really reveal just what gamers can expect from the upcoming adventure quite yet. We’re not even positive if this game will be released in 2019 but on the chance it is then we suggest keeping an eye out for more information in the coming months.

#16 Death Stranding
  • Developer: Kojima Productions
  • Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Platforms: PS4
  • Release: TBA

Death Stranding has a lot riding on it to help with the hype. You have the rocky relationship split between famed developer Hideo Kojima and Konami. Prior to the split was the release of the latest Metal Gear Solid game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain which was a big success along with the announcement of Silent Hills which was rejoiced by the Silent Hill fan base. The latter of the two was quickly canceled shortly before Kojima took his leave from the Konami company and that sparked massive outrage and backlash to Konami.

This split has left gamers curious as to what Hideo Kojima would do next as rumors started to flood of his leave from video game development and the start of directing films. That soon ended with the announcement of Hideo Kojima opening up his own video game development studio known as Kojima Productions with the first title being Death Stranding.

With all that into consideration, hype quickly built up surrounding this upcoming title, though very little information was unveiled. Instead, we’re given trailer footage showing a world in which creatures kidnap humans after being tracked by sound. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what new information will be revealed.
