Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 20 Tips To Help You Beat World of Light | Spirits Mode Guide

December 12, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

World of Light is a gargantuan new singleplayer mode for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Here’s everything you need to know to win.

#9: You Can Level Up Insanely Fast With Snacks (And Cores)

There are two ways to level Primary Spirits in World of Light — winning fights, or feeding your Spirits snacks and cores. And you’ll need to level up Spirits often, because you can’t de-level these guys normally. To match your enemy’s Power Level, you can jump into the Party menu and press [LB] to start feeding your Spirit. I recommend saving Snacks (L) for only special Spirits.

#10: Some Primary Spirits Can Upgrade Their Rank, Level These Guys Up First

These are the special Spirits you want to use those Snacks (L) on. Some Spirits can be upgraded when they reach Level 99. When they hit Level 99, you’ll get the option to enhance them — they’ll go back to Level 1, but they’re Rank Up and gain a useful skill. These new versions might be less powerful (at first) than your previous Level 99 Spirit, but they’ll quickly surpass their old limitations.

#11: 4-Star Legendary Spirits Are Extremely Tough

Rarely, you’ll encounter 4-Star Legendary Spirits on the map. They’re specifically tagged, and they’ll usually have an unreasonably massive PL — 14,000~ or more. Even in the mid-game, you won’t have anything that can compare. To defeat them, you’ll need to use an advantaged Spirit and select Support Spirit with immunities.

For example, against a 4-Star Charizard with infinite Curry Breath, equip a Support Spirit with the Franklin Badge — you’ll be immune to fire-based or lightning-based attacks.

#12: Improve Your Spirits With Dojos

Found earliest in the fluffy mushroom plains to the north of the central plaza, Dojos are a special activity you can unlock when you collect Master Spirits. These Master Spirits can be accessed from the World Map, or from your pause menu — just scroll down to Activities and you can enroll your Spirits into different Dojos.

It costs some gold, and it takes some time, but Dojos allow you to improve your stats. It usually comes at a cost — less defense, or less offense, etc. If you don’t like the changes, there’s a special Dojo in the mushroom plains that will remove all style changes.
